  • Since a lot of the early financial records burned, we have to extrapolate from the rate at which brewers expanded their buildings and how quickly they built mansions. The earliest brewers such as Yoerg, John Orth in Minneapolis, and some of their brethren in other cities did very well within a few years of starting, and were able to expand and build showplace homes. Several of the breweries were among the first brick buildings in their towns—which was seen as a mark of wealth and progress.
